01
Itineraries that breathe
Day-by-day routes built around what's actually open, not what ranks. Walk-times, ferry windows, and the café we'd send our mum to.
02
Sights, told properly
Every monument, beach and konoba comes with the context, history, hours, the back door, the better view.
03
Checklists, not chatter
Visa rules, ferry schedules, packing lists, and the practical bits travel sites bury under affiliate links.
Where to wander
Croatia, region by region.

Walled City
Dubrovnik
Limestone, sea spray, and a thousand years of stubborn beauty.

Diocletian's City
Split
A Roman emperor's retirement palace turned living downtown.

Lavender Island
Hvar
Sun-bleached terraces, perfumed fields, and the bluest coves.

Cascading Lakes
Plitvice
Sixteen turquoise lakes spilling through ancient karst forest.

Riviera Town
Cavtat
Dubrovnik's quieter sister, where the promenade is the plot.

Hidden Coves
Pakleni Islands
Sailboat country, pine-scented islets and glass-clear water.

Long read
Eat the coast: a Dalmatian table, course by course.
From morning fritule to a midnight glass of prošek, a field guide to the dishes, konobas, and unspoken rules that make eating in Croatia feel like an inheritance, not a meal.
Read the essay →When is the best time to visit Croatia?
+
Late May to mid-June and September are the sweet spots, warm sea, long evenings, and a coast that still belongs to the people who live on it.
Do I need a visa for Croatia?
+
Croatia is in the Schengen Area as of 2023. EU/EEA, US, UK, Canadian, Australian and many other passport holders enter visa-free for up to 90 days.
Is Croatia expensive in 2026?
+
Less than Italy, more than it was. Budget €90, €140/day for mid-range; coastal cities in August can double that. Inland and shoulder season are the value plays.
What's the best way to get around?
+
Buses are excellent. Ferries connect the islands. Rent a car for Istria and the inland national parks. Skip the train for the coast, it doesn't go there.
